It was about this time two years ago that ATM Pro Formulas were making a splash in the US market. Within the last 12 months ATM has grown around the world on the merit of their performance. ATM’s products make serious claims, but that’s okay with serious tools as ATM has proven by doing heavy lifting for consumer aquariums, aquarium design companies, and public aquariums around the globe. But we wouldn’t be able to do it without our growing family of international partners. One of them is world-renowned aquascape...read more

Nitrifying Bacteria. Two of the most divisive words in the aquarium hobby. It is quite the phenomenon how these bacteria, which perform the most important function to the health of the overall aquarium, has created such a complete mess of bad information, lack of understanding, and outright disdain. And the sheer amount of different varieties of the aforementioned is troubling. At ATM Aquarium Products we deal with biological cultures on a daily basis, most visibly our true nitrifying bacteria culture Colony. These cultures are relied upon...read more

Colony, aerobic autotrophs, or true nitrifying bacteria, consume inorganic compounds (ammonia/nitrite). These are the bacteria that “cycle” the aquarium. Outbreak! contains anaerobic heterotrophic bacteria. These bacteria eat organic compounds released in decomposition of organic matter. Typically, you will use a lot more Outbreak! as it is a more…...read more
STATEMENT FROM DISCOVERY NETWORKS AND ATM We wanted to address the recent New York Daily News article that included several inaccuracies regarding the aquarium installation at an Applebee’s restaurant. Unfortunately, a grey smooth hound shark did pass away during the acclimation period, however, it was not due to the ferris wheel included in the interior design of the tank as the article stated. There is always an element of unpredictability when dealing with animals and with every aquarium we design and build, the safety of the fish is...read more
2013 is shaping up to be an extremely busy year for ATM! With Season 3 of the record-breaking television show “Tanked” under way, and aquatics shows start appearing around the globe from now until the end of the year, be on the lookout for The Shark. It was unfortunate that Wayde, Brett and the ATM crew were unable to make it to MAX 2013. We tried very hard to make it happen but the gods of film scheduling were not on our side. We thank MAX director Kevin Adams for his patience and congratulate him on a wonderful MAX 2013. We hope...read more
