How does Outbreak! work?
Outbreak! works by introducing an extremely large population of organics consuming bacteria in to the aquarium. These bacteria and their enzymes break down organics, which are problematic in aquaria because as they decompose they release unwanted nitrate (NO3) and phosphate (PO4). Outbreak! does not eliminate already present NO3 and PO4 in the way we see other bacteria consume ammonia (NH3) and nitrite (NO2). There are other products that try and insinuate through crafty language that their bacteria consumes nitrate and phosphate. This is unrealistic. The most efficient way bacteria can be used to address these compounds is through the preventative action of consuming organics.
